Suddenly missing files when linking to dropbox

VLC has worked perfectly on my ipad and phone until a couple of days ago. Now, when I connect to dropbox, only 2 folders show up (when there were dozens before).
I've restarted, reinstalled, refreshed... There were no updates or changes, simply VLC showed all files and folders in dropbox one day, and now it doesn't.
Any help would be great as currently I can't view any of the folders that contain my movies (outside of viewing them in the dropbox app and one at a time importing them into VLC.

I'm having exactly the same issue. Also started a couple days ago.

Same here, it started a few days ago.
Has anyone had any success fixing this or has this been acknowledges as a bug?

Does the problem arise with iCloud?

I don't use iCloud, but I've put a few movies into it and they have appeared in the VLC app so I guess it is working. Still no joy with Dropbox.

If iClould is working and no update to VLC was made, I would suspect the problem is on the Dropbox side.
Try Google Drive and OneDrive if you can.

Thank you summit48, I think you may be right. However, Dropbox work perfectly outside of VLC so, although they may have made a change, I think it will be VLC that will have to fix the connection.
Sadly, I don't have Google or OneDrive so I'll have to keep my fingers crossed for a future update.

I don't understand your logic.
As far as I am aware there has been NO VLC update.
Dropbox suddenly stops working and VLC have to "fix the connection"?
I don't like your chances.

Hi there - sorry - I probably worded that badly - I didn't mean that it was VLCs fault in anyway - I agree I think Dropbox has made some change to break the connection.
What I meant was that 'if' Dropbox has made a change (and they don't change it back again) - then VLC may have to make an update to make the connection work again.

This is exactly what VLC started doing for me with files on Dropbox over a year ago. And, of course, it hasn't been addressed.

Still having this problem.
I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling VLC but that didn't help.
I've also tried logging VLC out of dropbox and then reconnect. I noticed that when I log VLC back in to dropbox the process seems really buggy. I have to log in several times before it responds, and when it does I just see the old partial list of dropbox items again.

Does anyone know of an iOS video player that is actually capable of syncing/streaming from dropbox?

This happened to me a few months back as well. It was working perfectly for ages, now it shows 15 random files/folders out of hundreds. I didn't change anything, it just suddenly changed. Tried uninstalling, reinstalling, logging out, logging in. Nothing fixes it. Seems to be whatever the 15 most recently modified files or folders are?
