I searched and found a few links about bookmarking streams, but did not find anything on bookmarking network shares.
If, on Apple TV, I want to watch videos on a network share, I have to go to the Network option, pick the server, log in (it's Anonymous, but I have to go through that every time), then go through the directory structure on the share until I get to where I want to play a video. I can do this, but it's driving my family crazy to the point where they won't use VLC on Apple TV. If they really want to watch something, they call me to go through and get to the file to play.
I'd really like to simplify this. For example, I have a directory for Channels DVR to save my shows and I have other directories for various types of videos. When the grandkid is here, we have to go to Network->Videos SMB Share->(do login stuff)->MainShareDirectory->Video->Animated->Kids->PawPatrol and then we can pick the video to see. It would be nice if we could do something like: Bookmarks->Kids->PawPatrol and pick the video, without having to log in or pick the server or step through all the directories from the base directory on the server share.
Is there some way to save a login as anonymous for an SMB share?
Is there some way to bookmark a folder on an SMB share (or any share) so others using VLC on my Apple TV can easily just got to a list of bookmarks and pick the folder?
