VLC video on camera roll detection, music import etc ...

Hi there

I been using VLC for years on PC, thanks for great work.

But now I have an issue! I've just got an iPAD Pro 2018 iOS12 ... and it's driving me insane as I don't get the way they make sense of it.
I've installed VLC but it can't pick up the images on my actual iPAD! Not even in the camera roll (where it's currently situated.
There is a few (not many) that do seem to access the camera roll. Is there not a way to have VLC be able to access the camera roll of the iPAD? If not, is it possible to PLEASE ad the ability?
I know there's all these other network connection import type ways that I've seen, but it's already on my iPAD, I feel like one shouldn't have to import it to the iPAD a second time.
Please help! Easy access to music already on iPAD would asl be great instead of having to import it via wifi/networks a second time (wouldn't that just be double the data storage for the very same files?)
I have videos, music, images etc on my iPAD copied over from my PC ... I don't use cloud cause wifi and data is always an issue.
It's taken up most my limited storage space on my iPAD ... But many software on iOS only seems to want to connect to media that's in the darn cloud! I find that insane and have no clue why everyone has decided to choose this method at least where IOS is concerned. (I appreciated android too).

Help would be highly appreciated
