New update ruins viewing experience

iPhone 6s plus, iOS 11.1.2

Have been using VLC for years ever since I bought this phone. It lets me view files and watch videos without the typical problems of apple devices. However, this last update: 3.1 has destroyed anything useful about the app.

The screen now dims after a set time while viewing

Opening control center or multitasking blanks the screen and then refuses to respond to transport controls

The search bar automatically jumps down into view when selecting files or even randomly

Subtitles work even less frequently than they used to

I've jettisoned VLC for nPlayer now until any of these issues can be fixed or an older version of the app made available.
