Access SMB SHaring from outside Local network

Postby dealtek » 12 Jul 2018 22:30

Hi,

I have my house ip setup in the router to forward to my mac.

also I have port 32400 set to go to Plex on that machine.

I would like to be able to access SMB sharing media outside of plex from outside the network.

Q: Is this possible and if so how can I set this up? Do I need to set another port forwarding or what .... ?

SMB is quite complex to forward, to be honest. You should try with a Windows machine from outside. Or use a DMZ

Hi Jean-Baptiste Kempf,

Thanks for your help. I was trying to access all available shared media on my home Mac from my iPhone VLC app. Is this possible?

If you have a static IP and a DMZ, yes.
