Remotely control VLC on iOS - feature request

Postby ghesa » 31 May 2018 17:57

Hi guys,

I'm taking my preparations for our summer holidays with my little girl.
We want to use our ipad (iOS10.3.3) with VLC on it to display show some movies to our little girl.
But it would be very handy if we could start/stop them remotely with our phone (android).
I know this is possible on computers but I don't think this is implemented in the iOS version (yet).

Or are there other options to achieve this?

Kind regards,
Sander

Hello,

Sadly, VLC-iOS does not support remote controls/communications with VLC-Android but it would be interesting to have this feature in the future!
The closest option that I can think of would be to use a Chromecast, meaning: using an iOS device as a remote while having the video on a screen(TV, monitor, ...) with a Chromecast.
However, the Chromecast feature will be available with VLC-iOS 3.1, which should soon be released.
