How/where are subtitle files managed?

When I drag and drop videos to VLC on my iPad through the web interface, I often drag a .mkv or .mp4 video file along with a separate .srt subtitle file. I make sure they have the same filename, just different extension. Works fine.

However, when deleting files, it only shows videos, no subtitles. Are subtitles deleted along with the videos automatically?

What happens if I drag and drop random .srt files (without corresponding videos) to VLC? The web interface seems to copy it just fine. Where are these .srt files stored, or how can I see them or clean them up?

Thanks!

Hi,

When deleting videos, the subtitles are deleted along.
On the other hand, there is no in-app way to delete a specific subtitle file but this is subject to change very shortly.
However, you can always delete the subtitle files through the files app in the VLC folder.

Hope it helped.

Thanks, just wondering about this:

What's that? When I click "All Files" in VLC, I only see videos, no separate .srt or other files.

Do you mean something else? In VLC or elsewhere?

I meant the Files app which is a separate app from VLC.
Depending on the version of your iOS, you can download it from the store.

Please ping me if needed.

Thanks, I haven't upgraded my iPad to iOS 11 yet, is that necessary? Or actually.. is it possible to give a direct link to that app in the App store, or its app id?
Such an app sounds very useful, not just for this purpose.
(or do you by any chance mean "Files" by Apple itself?)

Please ping me if needed.
Sorry if this is a retarded question, but how do I ping here :) Should I include @bubu? in my post or something?

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear in the first place.
Yes I meant the application "Files" by Apple and you need iOS 11 for it.
