VLC 1.1.2 & Apple TV 11.2.5

I've been using VLC 1.1.1 on my 3rd Gen Apple TV doing streaming from a Synology DS216+ with no problems.

However since the recent update to 1.1.2 and TVOS 11.2.5 it simply crashes when I attempt to access the video files. The DS216 appears as both UPnP and SMB servers on the start screen but when I try to connect to one of the media folders it simply quits. I'm told that disconnecting the NAS solves the problem but this defeats the object. I've tried a complete reset of the Apple TV, delete VLC and reinstall with no success. Since all Apps come via the App store there is no possibility of reverting to the older version.

I still have 1.1.1 on my iPad and that works fine, connects to the NAS and plays back perfectly.

Anyone else had any problems?

Yes, every new update (for Apple TV) seems to get worse and worse.
