File Management

First, many thanks to all the developers who have created, maintained, and enhanced VLC player.

I just downloaded the version for iOS onto my iPhone (version 2.7.8), and sent $5.00 as a token of my appreciation.

One of my motivations for doing this was to have a single list of 174 mp3 files of talks, ordered by name.

I had tried without success to achieve this within iTunes. Lots of frustration and failure even after 3+ hours with a senior apple tech.

So, I thought, how about if I copy the files to iCloud, and then just tap on a file to listen to it. Well, I copied ~ 30 of the files to iCloud as an experiment and tried tapping on one, and sure enough, the file started playing in what appeared to be QuickTime player. But ... it seems to act like a previewer, and stops after about a minute or so if you don't keep tapping on the screen. So you can't start listening to a file and then turn off the screen to save battery life and put it in our pocket!

Okay, so I thought maybe VLC would do it for me.

Well, VLC will keep playing with the display turned off.

However, here's what happened when I copied my mp3 files to VLC:

I did it within iTunes because it's the only way I understood to do it. I dragged the files - about 20 at a time - to the space assigned to the VLC app. Everything copied fine. But when I open VLC on the iPhone, the files have been placed into 4 different folders in a way which doesn't make sense to me. Why didn't they all go into one folder, or no folder?

I would like them all in one folder. They are named so that if the display order is by file name they will be in chronological order, which is what I want.

From my explorations within VLC player for iPhone it seems you can't move files from one folder to another. I would like to be able to move all the files into one folder.

If there is a way to move files from folder to folder, I'd love to hear how to do it. (I did read the docs, but saw nothing about this.)

If not, I'd love it if this feature would be added to a future version of the player.

Thanks again for all your work on this.

I understand these things have their complexities.
