IOS app and file sharing

Sorry for this cause I'm sure it's been covered many times but I'm trying to stream videos from my Mac to VLC player on my Iphone. I turned on file sharing on my Mac. It shows up in VLC under Local Network on my phone. I connect to my Mac but there aren't any files listed. I added the folders to share on my computer but they're not showing up.

Is there an easier way to do this?
