Moving songs from an album to a folder

Hello all,
I want to listen to music with my iphone without using itunes. Therefore I tried VLC. I already found out that I have to move songs to a folder in order to hear them subsequently. Creating a folder and moving single songs to it worked fine. But I have a lot of songs that are from one album and VLC groups them together in the list for all files. My problem is that I cannot find out how to move those songs into the same folder as the other songs. I tried two things:
1) I selected "Edit", selected the album and the folder and clicked on the little folder icon at the bottom. Afterwards I get a list of possible foders and have to select the folder I want to move the songs to again. This procedure worked for single songs but after I do it with and album I just get back to the list of all files and the album is still outside the folder.
2) I open the album, click "Edit" and select single songs of this album. Then I click "Back" in the upper left corner and select the folder (the Edit view is still open). Now I click on the little folder icon at the bottom. This time a dialogue opens which wants me to enter the name of the new folder. I cannot find out how to choose the folder that is already existing.
Do I need to change any of the default settings or is there any other suggestion?
Another thing: is it correct that with the current version it is not possible to shuffle a playlist or use a random function?
I uploaded the songs via WiFi to my phone.
My current version of VLC for iOS is 2.7.8 and it is an iphone 6 with iOS 10.1.1.

I had the same problem. Cussin' didn't fix it. Long slow sighs didn't fix it. However, I observed that copying to folders only works when the display is in list mode. If it is in grid mode, you can go through the same motions, but nothing happens except aging and raging.
Select list mode using the icon to the right of Edit in the top bar.

I'm having the same problem as the OP - I am unable to move songs from albums into a new folder I created. However I can't follow the advice in the reply, because there is nothing to the right of Edit on my screen - Edit is against the right margin - and I can't find any option to select "List" view anywhere. Help please!

I am dismayed that this problem goes back to 2016 and there seems to be no progress on the issue. Maybe I need to re-think using VLC on my IOS devices.
