While it is planned to add it, there is no user interface for this scenario as of yet.

I have a VLC playlist with multiple channels. Because the live tv channels is concerned, I would like to ensure that 1 channel continues playing and they don't constantly switch to another channel. to achieve this, I have the following command put on; Image

But now comes the problem; The channel restart every time! I have already tried various possibilities but nothing helps. also another playlist gives the same problem.

How do I make sure that the channel I want to watch that this just keeps playing and not constant restart

Hello, I'm running into exactly the same issue on iOS. First channel is streaming fine but no means of switching channels. Any news on this feature request as of yet?

A bit off-topic

Before finding this thread, I copied my VLC radio playlist files over to an iPhone by uploading them to iCloud Drive; VLC for mobile would not recognize them. It wants raw media files--audio or video--rather than stream URIs.

That makes sense for a recorded personal music or video library, but not for online streams. It's good to know that an interface for local playlists is planned. NB: Using Siri to speak a URI rather than type one is not good for your sanity or blood pressure. ;-)

Work-around

Meanwhile, for those who--for one reason or another--prefer to use VLC for mobile rather than Safari, or some internet radio or video app on your iPhone to stream audio or video, here is a "Duct-tape-and-WD-40" way to create a favorite streams list on your iPhone.

To import a set of playlists from another VLC installation into an iPhone one needs to
  • a) concatenate all the playlist files into one file whose extension is .TXT
    b) upload the file to iCloud Drive
    c) import the uploaded file into iPhone Notes app
Then, to play a particular stream on the iPhone one must copy and paste its URI from Notes to the stream interface in VLC for mobile.

Proposed interface design guideline

In my opinion, a well-designed VLC for mobile local playlist streams interface would let the user
  • 1) upload playlists directly to the music library using conventional file extensions (.XPSF, .PLS, etc)
    2) create playlist groups
    3) trigger a playlist in that music library by saying "Hey Siri, play [optional groupName] [playlistName] [with VLC]"
Of course, it would also be nice if VLC for mobile playlists were truly functional and the "background / repeat" problem could be fixed.

Same problem. I entered a number of internet radio stations URLs into VLC for iOS under "Network Streams" but I am still looking for a way to back up my stations. VLC works very well for playback in the car, specially since I don't need to subscribe to services like Tunein Radio, where you either pay a monthly fee or are forced to hear commercials every time you change stations.

I could just copy all the stations names and URLs one by one in a text app and restore them manually as you describe as backup in case something happens to my phone. But the list is of over 100 stations. Maybe there's a better way?

EDIT

I just found out how this works.
When you have an m3u file just copy it from either the network location or the download folder into the VLC folder.
Then open VLC and go to playlist and you see all the channels in the file.

You can add as many m3u files as you like and they will shown under the tab playlist to be selected.

Works like a charm

Hi

I would like to know if this issue is already resolved?

I just installed VLC on my iphone and loaded an m3u playlist containing 116 radio stations yet I only see the first one and can't select any of the other stations.

I tried google to search for it yet can only find this post.
Sorry for bumping it.

If there is a solution can someone pls paste a link to the topic?

Kind regards
