Can I view jpeg photo using ios device VLC app?

I know VLC are for movies, but can I view my photos too? How to? when I try to view a jpeg it say (VLC could not decode the format Jpeg)

Regrettably, photo viewing is beyond the scope of VLC-iOS at this point.

Has there been any advancements in viewing JPG or *.pic. I am also trying to view pictures of my grand kids while traveling or just in my hotel suites. Could I insert them in a powerpoint slide show or something.
