Is VLC for iOS supposed to support music?

The features page doesn't mention it nor explicitly say music files aren't supported. One 3rd party website said only video files will play.

And that's my experience as well. I find it odd that I can transfer music files with iTunes and yet on the iPhone they don't show up.

Forget WiFi transfer; when I launch VLC it only wants me to connect to iTunes (which it already is ...) to transfer videos.

And yet I see hints on this forum people are using it to play music. How?

iPhone 6, iOS 9.x, latest iTunes etc. on El Cap

VLC supports audio playback on iOS for 2 years now. You can sync media via iTunes or WiFi Sharing and the app will automatically group the albums. The interface is not as nice as it could, but it's efficient ;)

Oh, note, that VLC-iOS does not have access to music synced to Apple's official Music app.

I can only Playback One Song After the Other manually. Can somebody point me to a solution how to make it advance to the next song?

This German thread says it is not yet possible. Thanks to everyone who will make a VLC fork for playing music continuously.

I solved it for me with appstore app called Rushplayer Lite. Not free like VLC but succeeds in playing music continuously . Gets mounted (Documents on (your) ipod >> Rushplayer Lite / Documents /, put the music here by cable , I failed with mass uploading per Wifi/FTP server) on the common, updated Ipod touch 4g...sorry for offtopic
