VLC for Apple TV Not Seeing iMac

Just downloaded VLC for Apple TV. When I started it, the Local Network screen only shows my Apple Airport wireless router and my MacBook Air. The iMac doesn't appear.

I've tried rebooting all the devices (Apple TV, Airport, iMac) to no avail.

Also, the MacBook and Airport show up as SMB devices. Shouldn't they be AFP? And when I tried to log into the MacBook, it couldn't see any files. And after a few minutes VLC locked up and became non-responsive.

Th iMac is set up for sharing, and it works successfully with AFP with the MacBook and my iPad.

Any suggestions?

VLC does only support SMB, no AFP at all. However, there are known file listing issues with some SMB shares hosted by modern Macs. We hope to fix those in the 1.0.2 release of VLC for Apple TV, which will be out by the end of week or early next week.

Thanks for the response. I was misled by a review that claimed VLC did do AFP.

Oh, that's a nice review :D

But indeed, that's wrong. I'll try to reach out to them to have this fixed :)
