Stream from Mac to iPhone

I want to stream a video from my Mac to a couple of iPhone's, but I can't get it to work. I tried using both HTTP and MMS protocols, the connection from the iPhone to the computer is made, but the video and audio don't play well - static noises, garbage video, etc.

What are the recommended settings I have to use on my Mac's VLC in order to make the stream to work properly?

Consider accessing your Mac using SMB (see Local Network in the VLC app) which you can enable in the "Sharing" category of the Mac's system preferences. This way, you can access anything stored on your Mac in a quite efficient way :)

Thanks a lot for your reply, I'll try your method out. A couple more questions:

1. the audio is encoded in AC3, and I'm aware this format isn't yet compatible on the iPhone. Is there a workaround if I share my videos given your instructions?
2. would I be able to share my videos over the internet using SMB? I was thinking maybe setting up a VPN server on my Mac?

1. No, VLC-iOS does not support AC-3 decoding for patent reasons.
2. Not personally tested by me, but should work indeed!
