Cannot install VLC Player

Hi,

I got a new Ipad Air today. Naturally, one of the first things I did was install VLC Player, which seemed to work fine but when I went to play a video I got the message ' 'Unsupported codec', etc (ie, AC3). After a quick Google, I found out that this is a problem with the latest version(s) of VLC Player - so I downloaded an older version: ie, v2.3.0. However, I couldn't install it - just got a permanent 'installing' message in iTunes, but never installed. Thus I scrubbed it and went to re-install the latest version of VLC from iTunes, but now I cannot download or install that either - it seems to think I still have it installed (or something like that). Yes, I tried clearing the cache, web history, etc - but still no luck.

Any ideas?

Thanks,
DANNY

Hello,

Indeed, AC-3 playback is not supported in current versions of VLC for iOS.

For the 2.3.0 release available from our archives or elsewhere, the app signature doesn't match your device as your Apple ID was not used to purchase it from the store. Unless you re-sign it (might require a Developer Membership at Apple) or hack the device, there is no way to deploy it. Note that we can't recommend or endorse hacking iOS devices in any way.

OK,

But how come I can't re-download/re-install the latest VLC player from the Apple store/website?

Thanks,
