Help with downloading files from web

I might just not know how to use this app, but basically I'm trying to download a video from the web. I paste the url for the video in the downloads tab, and it downloads the video. After the video is downloaded, though, the video doesn't show up anywhere. In the "All Files" tab it says "empy media library." And I can confirm that the video is actually downloading because I can see that the space the app takes up increases by about 200 MB after the download finishes. So the video is on my phone but I can't access it? What's going on?

What's the file extension of the downloaded file and that is the version of the VLC for iOS app you are using?

Hello,

I have the same problem when I download this file for example: https://goo.gl/X3kGe2
The download completes but when I go to "All files", nothing shows up.

From what you say, I suppose this comes from the fact that only the videos ending with a known extension are displayed.
Is that right?

In the example above the file is probably downloaded, but with no extension.

I'm looking for a way to rename the downloaded file, ideally without needing a computer with iTunes to assist.
If you already have a workaround for this, it'll be good to know.

VLC for iOS 2.6.5 (265.2)
iOS 9.0.2 (134452) / iPhone 6S
