AC3 in version greater than 2.3.0

Hi,
i am currently using a 2.3.0 version of the app on my iphone and ipad. Sort of need to use these, as almost 100% of the movies are coded with AC3 audio, and latest versions from AppStore do not support AC3.
If i download an IPA from VLC mirror ftp, do newer versions have AC3 support in there? Or should i stick with the 2.3.0 version for the rest of the life?

P.S. yes, i'm jailbroken, so i can install 2.3.0 version without problems. but on iOS 8.4 i have some problems. When i pause video and lock the screen, VLC crashes. Hadn't those issues on older 8.1.2 iOS

The VLC binaries provided on our website are the exact same versions available through the iOS App Store, with the same features and limitations. To enable further functionalities, the only way is to get the source code and compile it yourself.

Yes, this iOS 8.4 issue is resolved in current versions of VLC for iOS.

Thanks for the answer.
Then i will stick with this old version. As i have seen in other posts, iOS source code is not available on git now, so there's no possibility to take the same 2.6.2 version and compile with AC3 codec yourself

This is a misunderstanding. VLC is open-source and there are source code packages available on our website for every release. Check the "VLC for iOS" download page on www.videolan.org.

Thanks for pointing that out.
Gonna see, when i get back to my mac.
If i get it right, there's only need to change some lines, to include AC3, or it is completely removed from 2.6 version, and it's needed to reimplement a full code to work with this codec?
I'm totally new to ObjC, so it will take time toresearch those things

Just compiling it, is enough to enable all codecs. Nothing further for you to do. For details on the compilation process, see https://wiki.videolan.org/iOSCompile

Thanks a lot Felix!
That reall helps.

P.S. the ipa on FTP (where the sourcecode is) is the same as from the AppStore, with codecs disabled?

Great, thanks again!
Will be trying to compile myself then.
You don't mind if i post link to this topic on reddit jailbreak community, so others will know about this possibility?
