Display elapsed time

Postby Pereira » 29 Apr 2015 13:07

Older versions of VLC would display the elapsed time of a video as well as the total play time, while the current version only displays the remaining time.

For example, in a 2h movie, you can only know that you're at "15m40s" because you are given that information that the remaining time is "-1h44m20s".

This may seem like a detail, but it's actually quite hindering when you work in audiovisuals, namely translating or subtitling. It makes it a real pain to know the exact second you're at, since you must constantly do math, not to mention the time lost in the process and the frustration.

Therefore, I was wondering if there is any option that can make this information visible, or if it could by any chance be implemented in future versions. It's such a simple thing to put the time near the play bar, yet so crucial.

Regards

Touch the displayed time to switch between elapsed and remaining time.
