VLC 2.4.1 (1) sharing via wifi aborts

I can not get the sharing via wi-fi to work. I can bring up the web page in a chrome browser, but when I try to upload a file, it aborts after a few minutes.

The browser reports an error, and the iOS device (iphone 6), the sharing via wi-fi toggle turns off.

Has anyone else seen this?

Is your WiFi stable enough to do a large transfer? Do you use a public or company-administrated network which interrupts device to device connections?
