Some credit needs to go to https://forum.videolan.org/viewtopic.php?f=36&t=121915 but he seams to have removed the file he was sharing.

I just got the new iphones 6, and sadly when all my apps resynced my second most used on VLC was gone and after pleny of searching i got it back.

To re-add VLC follow the steps below.

1. Install the software it will allow you to install .ipa onto your device http://www.itools.cn/itoolsyingwenbanxiazai
(you can also backup your old copy of vlc from another device to put it on a different device)

2. If you haven't got a backup you can generate yourself here is mine from my ipad http://misc.pcjamesy.net/files/VLC(v2.3.0).ipa

3. Open the software installed above.

4. Click the applications button on the right side allowing time for it to download the list from your device.

5. Select install on the top bar and select your .ipa back up or the one downloaded above.

Hi,

Thanks for the instructions and posting your IPA File.

I didn't have a backup of mine, and tried yours, but it keeps asking me for a apple ID and password (I think yours) as, when it is getting installed it has a different Apple ID.

Yeah, I tried both. One opens the app store and the other one says the ipad needs to be jailbroken
