The app on the phone crashes immediately after upload. When I try batch upload, only first one works, then app crashes and the rest fail to upload. Help?

Is this specific to certain files you are uploading?

Which iPhone and iOS version?

I suffer from the same problem and I'm using my windows 8 Firefox 32.0.3 to my ios8 and its applicable to every file transferred. After one file, the app will crash. Upon reopening the app, it will immediately crash again until I restart my iPad. This makes it extremely tedious to batch upload say an entire season of a tv shows as I will have to restart the iPad once for every episode uploaded. Please assist to address the issue in a timely manner. Really appreciate the work that has already been done. Supported vlc for years! Keep up the great work!

+1 on this problem.

I have had it for quite a while but only recently "google'd" the problem as it is very annoying.

It's in the processing of the completed WiFi upload that the app crashes. If you attempt to reopen the app too quickly, it will still be processing the upload and will crash again. If you wait a couple of seconds before reopening the app, the file will have processed and will be sat there ready for you.

My first 'multiple' uploads always seem to work. I can upload 2 episodes but after those 2, it will crash at the end of every upload.

In previous versions of VLC for iOS, I have always done multiple uploads with no problem.

I am uploading via Mac OS X 10.10.1 using Chrome, uploading mostly MKV files (mostly) (A little Aliens there (they mostly come at night... mostly)).

Hi everyone,

I was (desperatly) searching the web for a solution to the problem when I found this thread. Even if it didn't helped me (!), I have a solution for you.

Just so you know, I was trying to transfer files to the app from Wifi Sharing with Chrome on W8.1 and the app is installed on an iPad mini retina with iOS 8.1.2, and after 2 shows of the same title, the app was crashing constantly.

Then I tried an other show... Same thing, but I now had a total of 4 episodes (2 differents shows) on my iPad.

What I did was quite simple : rename all the fils that I was trying to transfer. As I can see, the app is using a name template that looks like "name of the show" - "name of the episode".

To seperate the shows, I simply renamed my episodes like this :
A - S01E01
B - S01E02
C - S01E03
... You understand the pattern! Like that, they don't group on the iPad, so the app doesn't crash.

I now have all my episodes on my iPad. From that, it seems that the crash is due to a problem in the grouping of the shows once transfered. If the app could be updated it would be nice! I only have this show on my iPad so even if they don't group it's OK for me, but it might be practical...!

Hope it helps!

I identified the reason for those crashes last night. The fix will be part of the next beta version as well as the next update for all the users. We hope to be able to release both as soon as iTunes Connect opens its doors again after the holidays.
