Audio issue with VLC 2.2.2 on iOS 7.1

Hello,

I am a happy user of VLC 2.2.2 on iOS 7.1. I am watching video files containing multiple audio tracks and subtitle tracks.

As of today, audio stopped working.
Movies starts with "disabled" audio track by default and forcing a change to one of the two tracks available does not change anything.

Sound is working on my iPad, button is on and other apps are producing sounds
I tried to force exit and restart VLC - no changes
I restarted the iPad - no changes
As far as I know there was no ios or vlc upgrade since the last time I watched a movie (two days ago)

Even video files I watched normally two days ago have the same problem. Since today, Every video file in my library plays without sound and with initial status "disabled" for audio track.

How can I solve this ?
How can I help to debug this ?

Thanks for your support

Seb

Hello,

Did you travel in the last 2 days? Does it work again when changing your device's time zone back to where you came from?

Indeed, I switched timezone since last time it was working.
I tried to switchback the TZ as suggested and I restarted VLC. It works !!

Thanks you for your efficient and fast help. This is a weird bug :-) apparently a known one ....
Any plan to fix it in future versions ?

THANKs !

Seb

This depends on external factors we don't have direct influence on. Can't say, sorry :)

Which Library / component is causing this ? Any bug number to track ? On VLC or any third party lib ....

Also : if I want to change TZ, what is the reference time the app is considering ? The TZ when installing the app ? The TZ when importing the movie ?
Should I delete VLC and reinstall ? Or just reimport my movies ?

Thanks

It's the TZ currently active when playback starts. Most are supported, but some are not for some audio formats. This is covered in various threads on this forum.

Regarding a bug report, this is covered by ticket 8984.
