Play video without adding to library?

I use Goodreader to manage my media files (pictures and videos). However, Goodreader does not support the wide variety of video formats supported by VLC. So, to play videos that Goodreader doesn't support, I can choose the file within Goodreader, and tell it to open that file in another app (VLC). When I do this, it adds the file to VLC's library, but VLC does not start playing the file. Ideally, the way I would like things to work is:

- I choose "open with VLC" from Goodreader
- VLC starts up, and starts playing the video
- After I stop playing the video in VLC, it gets deleted from VLC's library

The last part is the essential point - since I already have the file in my Goodreader library, I don't want a second copy populating my VLC library. Is there any way to do this now, or could such a feature be added in the future?

Thanks,
Doug

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback. This is not supported by the current version. Could you file a feature request on http://trac.videolan.org/vlc ? Click on "OpenID" to login with your Google or Yahoo account if you don't want to sign-up.
