Photos and Sharing via WiFi

Hi,

is it possible to use the Sharing via Wifi function to send other types of files beside videos?
I tried to send some photos from my pc to my (old) iPad, it seemed to work but I can't find the photos either on the ipad or on the browser page.

You can send any file type using that feature but VLC will only show what it can play, so that's video and audio files, but no Word documents and no photos.
