Turn off subtitles by default

Postby nurgis » 06 Nov 2022 00:40

Using VLC on iOS and iPadOS, subtitles seem to show by default on most video files I play and there doesn't seem to be any option to disable this behavior.

I am I missing an option, and, if not, is there any plan to implement such an option to default subtitles to off.

It is so very annoying having to constantly turn off subtitles on videos every single time.

Hello,

DIsplaying the subtitles by default when they are available is the expected behaviour.

There is currently no option to disable this behaviour but this feature request can be interesting to implement.

Thank you for your feedback!

Hi there,
I second this 'off by default' option :D While subs can currently be "visually turned off" by making subs transparent with color options, an on/off feature would eliminate the need to change color settings+restart VLC every time I want them back on. Losing a playlist in the restart is also a downside and time consuming. Thank you~
