Unable to stream to Chromecast on ipad

I have the latest version of VLC on my ipad and a google chromecast connected to my TV. I am able to successfully cast from YouTube on my ipad to my Chromecast. But VLC is not able to find the Chromecast device in order to stream to it.

“Local network” is enabled in the VLC app settings so it should be able to find the device. I have done the basics (restart, reboot, check for latest app versions).

I am looking for some ideas to resolve this. It is strange that both YouTube and the google home app have no problem finding/casting to this device but VLC is unable to find it

I have the exact same problem. I have tested both on iPhone and iPad without luck.

Any suggestions to solve this issue is much appreciated

My workaround for this is to Uninstall VLC then re-install it. When you then open it, you should see the Casting ICON and you can then go to your shares and load up supported video files. Note that some video files may be using a Codec that either Chromecast or VLC (over Chromecast) won't support and you'll see only a black screen but still hear the audio. I have best success with .mkv files. But that's a separate issue. To actually see the Casting Icon, I need to uninstall/re-install VLC and I get only that option for the duration of VLC being open.
