(3.4.5) Randomly silent playback of music when selecting from menu

As mentioned in this thread thread previously, it continues to occur in 3.4.5. Personally, this has originally started on 3.4.1~ version of VLC

When clicked on a song, there seems to be no pattern that I can see, and it doesn't allow sound to be played. This is not album specific, as some songs are continued to be played, while other don't. The playback continues, and changing volume/scrolling doesn't fix anything. A way to temporarily avoid it is to click to next song then back, in which case the sound does play.
