iOS | Default Playback Speed

For a while now, the "Default Playback Speed" setting has been limited to pre-defined selections. I've always wanted to set it to 1.10x, but there is no fine-tuning available. The next step up after 1.00x is 1.25x. Is it possible to add a scroller/slider or allow users to manually type in a value?

Interesting suggestion, let’s see how to do that. Tech silly, there is no limitation, we just need to do the UI for this.

The most recent VLC release on iOS (3.3.5) broke the player-level Playback Speed setting. Clicking on the setting does nothing.
EDIT: Looks like the settings above and below it are also broken (Video Filters and Sleep Timer).

hello! so excited to be using VLC on my new iphone. A huge thing for me is adjusting the default playback speed. I would be so grateful ifyou could allow adjustments of the DEFAULT playback speed in 0.01 increments, in the same manner as you allow per-song playback speed adjustments. I'm currently on version 3.3.7 (432) on iOS.

Is there any possibility of such a change/improvement? I'm going to contribute right now, regardless.

What is your use-case for this? Why would you need such fine grained settings?

It's been about a year so I'm just revisiting this thread. Seems like someone else also wanted finer controls for default playback speed. I'd personally be fine with 0.10 increments, the current choices in the app are a bit too rough.

You can adjust the settings in the playback speed view by two different means:
- By using the slider, but it can be complicated to select a very precise value.
- By using the "increase" and "decrease" buttons at the left and right of the slider.

When using the buttons, the increment is of 0.05 for the playback speed and 50 ms for the subtitles and audio delay.
So you can easily set your playback speed to 1.10x.

But we currently do not have the possibility to type in a value yet.

When using the buttons, the increment is of 0.05 for the playback speed and 50 ms for the subtitles and audio delay.
So you can easily set your playback speed to 1.10x.

But we currently do not have the possibility to type in a value yet.

Hi, I mean the "default playback speed" setting, not the one implemented into the player itself. The player itself has fine-grained controls, but the default playback speed settings only allow me to set intervals of 0.25x.

Oh I see, I'm sorry I misunderstood the issue here.

You are right, we only show values with a 0.25x gap (until it reaches 2.00x) in the Settings tab.
It could be interesting to allow users to type in a custom value within a range and set this as the default playback speed.

Kind of in a similar vein, it would be useful if the gesture controls (swipe and tap) for video playback had a few more options. In particular for me, I would find it useful if I could double tap the right side of the screen to speed up playback, and double tap the left side to slow it down.

Edit: a couple of playback speed control buttons beside the seeking/ forward & reverse buttons would be equally helpful
