Airplay mutes start of audio files

Hello everyone, big VLC user here.

I bought an iPhone 11 last year and figured I'd also download VLC Media Player on it.
The software treats my Bluetooth headset as an Airplay device, which I'm fine with.
What I'm not fine with is how it seems to mute the first second of most of the tracks I play on it.
I say "most" because I've heard some files that were not affected, and I'm not sure why.

I'm using VLC for iOS version 3.3.12. Has anyone encountered this problem?
