Since the latest patch I have been unable to use the saved configuration to access the smb server to play the many video files stored on the NAS at home if I am using a VPN. I’d been using the same configuration for years with no issues. Yet after installing the recent patch the VLC program can no longer detect a device on my local network if I am using my VPN (which is always on). After some investigation, it appears that VLC works perfectly if I deactivate the VPN, but will now pretend that there are no devices connected to my local network if the VPN is active. As many people use VPN services for security reasons both at home and for work this seems a rather glaring oversight. Neither the Windows nor the Mac version of VLC have the same problem.
If anyone has troubleshooting advice, I’d appreciate it. I don’t want to have to deactivate my VPN to play video content from a local network server.
Thanks in advance.
