Problems getting to network SMB shares after update

Running VLC Version 3.3.0 (148), just auto-updated 2 days ago on an old SIM-less iPhone 6+ running iOS 12.5.5.

I'm having problems with network shares. (I'd post screenshots, but there appears to be no way to upload them.) When I click on the network button to see what servers are on my LAN, I get the long list of SMB shares, Sonos devices, and so on. If I scroll down to my media server and touch it, I get the same screen I used to get, where it shows that server and the login I've saved for it (down in the bottom half of the screen). If I touch "Connect" in the upper right, nothing happens. If I touch on the entry that has the login I've saved, nothing happens. Basically I can't do anything to log in from that screen.

But if, on the screen listing network shares, I touch on the Connect in the upper right, there, I get the logins listed and can log in from there. It's confusing, especially since I am often trying to use this late at night. Why can't I login from any entry in the list of servers VLC finds? What's the point of listing servers if you can't login to them?

Also, side issue: With one media server I have only one login given. Every time I go there and click the saved login, it brings up the login window for me to enter the user and pw. I just click "Login" and go with the values in it (that I already entered). Why does this happen on one server and not others?

We both use iPhone 6 + with iOS v12.5.5 too. I assume you had no issues in the older VLC's iOS versions.

And now no responses at all about what to do to fix this or my other issue. I may have to switch software just to do what I used to do every day.

In my forum thread, the developer said he will have to look and fix it so we will have to wait. I wished we could downgrade to the older version. Darn Apple won't let us.

Yay, today's v3.3.3 fixed it!

Things just seems to get worse for me with SMB 3. I used to at least be able to see my Windows 10 and 8.1 computers on the network (auto detect) and connect ok to the windows 8.1 machine. Now they do not show up. If I manually enter the info, when trying to connect, it just flashes a mostly white screen and returns.

I do see my homerunhd prime network tuner with no difficulties.

Does anyone have any ideas? I am using test flight Version: 3.3.4 (426).

Frank, this sounds like a networking problem, especially if even the manual connect fails. Did you try restarting the Windows PCs in question?

Yes, I have tried restarting the PCs. That dd not help. All the PC in the house can share files between each other. Also I can get to SMB shares using Filebrowser Pro on the Ipad or the FIles app from Apple. That leads me to believe it is not a network issue. I have disabled Norton Internet security on the PC’s and that didn’t help either. Any other ideas?
