Downloaded files do not appear in menu anymore

Postby CityHunter1981 » 24 Mar 2022 06:42

Hello,

I have updated today to the newest version of the app and now if I download a video file, it does not appear in the menu after the download has been finished. Before I updated to the newest version it always worked. Actually I have put one after another like 10 files in the download and after all finished only 1 showed up in the menu. The file names, sizes, type of the 10 files were all nearly the same, but only one showed up.
I have downloaded the same files before the update and it has worked at that time.

I have tried to manually rescan for media files, but the files still do not show up. However if I go to the Iphone storage settings and choose VLC, I can see the downloaded file there to delete it, but it's not visible in the app.
As downloads worked before the update, I wonder if something how files are downloaded has been changed, which could explain my problem.

I am downloading from a filehoster page. They are having a internet stream option and I can use this stream URL to download the video. Like I mentioned it worked before the update and the download progress is still shown normally only that the file once finished is not should up in VLC, but only the iPhone storage setting page.

I did try downloading the file via PC and send the downloaded file via WiFi to VLC and when I do so, the file shows up in VLC. So it must be a problem with the download on the newest version.

Seems like a http forwarding problem. Can you see the file in the VLC context using Files.app?

Sorry but what is files.app? As I mentioned the file is at least shown in the iPhone storage options under VLC.

I have also another problem and am not sure if that has been asked already, but if I watch a video file the left side of the picture is darker than the rest.

@CityHunter1981: the Files.app is installed by Apple by default so you can browse the local file structure of your iPhone or iPad. Can you use it to list the VLC folder and see for the file extension under which the media stored that does not show?

@shillahtv: this is unrelated, but indeed a frequently reported problem that we are currently investigating.
