SMB still does not work

On both my iPad and iPhone, VideoLAN still cannot connect to my Win 7 and 10 PCs using SMB2. Problem not fixed for over a year.
My home PCs do not require passwords to log on. However, other video apps on my iPad have no problem connecting to my PCs.

I apologize for "hijacking" this thread, but I did not see any benefit in creating a new one for this request.

I would like to test the tvOS beta and since you are offering invites to the beta, I would like to take you up on that offer.

I had access to the beta until about 1-2 weeks ago and then my access expired, I guess.

Either way, if you (fkuehne) are able to offer access to the beta, I would be grateful if I could test it out.

It will replace your current VLC on iPad. To restore the latest version from the App Store, you can open the App Store any time for one-click re-installation.

fkuehne - seems to be working! Finally.

EDIT - ►► The second time I turned on this beta VideoLAN in my iPad, it almost got stuck in a Login loop. It prompted me for my PC's user name and password login over and over. I have a user name on my PC, of course, but my Win 10 Pro 64-bit PC does NOT have a password to log in. VideoLAN almost got stuck, but somehow I got through and connected.

So the issue is not 100% fixed.

Again, I have other apps on my iPad that have NO difficulty reaching my video files on my PC, without ANY login at all. No prompts for login! Why can't VideoLAN be the same?

Also, I noticed in settings that it "prefers SMB 1". What happens if I turn that off?

Finally, swipe right does not advance the video by 10 seconds. How do I enable that feature?

Update - this holiday weekend, VideoLAN on my iPad has worked to connect to files on my PC, but each time I connect, it asks me to log in. No other app like VideoLAN requires this.

Also, I still have my questions about “prefer SMB 1” and how to make swipe right (or left) advance (or regress) the video by ten seconds.

With these questions answered, we will finally be back to the good VideoLAN of two+ years ago.

I tried the Beta, but I still cannot connect to an SMB share on any Windows 10 PC. I keep getting SMB authentication prompts for username and password. I can connect to a Windows 8.1 PC without any problems. Any suggestions?

I have SMB 1 disabled on the Windows 8.1 machine and SMB in VLC works on that machine. Any idea why this is not the case on Windows 10? I don’t want to eable SMB 1 if that is what is required.

I used an SMB share set up on the Filebrowser Pro iOS app to independently confirm that SMB 1 is disabled on both the Windows 8.1 and 10 machines. The app lets you select which version of SMB you would like to use. I use 3. Since I can get to SMB shares on the iPad using Filebrowser Pro, I assume this is not an iOS problem.

Please explain in detail what does not work. I can well connect to my Windows 10 shares (default configuration, no customization) with the latest VLC-iOS beta.

I can connect to my Windows 8.1 machine, although it always asks for a password even if I have saved the password. The Windows 10 machine keeps asking for the username and password and never displays the window shares.

Is this on iOS or tvOS? are you logged in to iCloud? Which build number are you using precisely?

I am on iOS, logged into iCloud, and on version 3.3.0 (412) of vlc.

I also get hit with a continuous login loop when trying to connect to an SMB share hosted on my Windows 10 21H2 Build 19044.1466 machine using VLC for Mobile Version 3.3.0 (413) on iOS 15.2.1 on my iPad Mini (5th Gen). Let me know if there are any logs / diagnostics I can contribute to help with troubleshooting?
