App shuffles song order constantly

I just installed version 3.2.13 on my iphone 6 running ios 12.4.9. I copied a bunch of mp3s into the vlc folder using a usb cable.

When I open the songs it lists them in a random order (i.e. not ordered by filename) and it is set to sort by "album". When I change that to "alphanumeric" it sorts the songs as it should. However, if I do almost anything it will scramble the songs up again. As in if I play a single song and the screen turns off the songs will show in a random order when I open them. The sort by is still set to "alphanumeric". However, if I close the app (by swiping it up, not just moving it to background), it will change the sort setting back to "album" again.

So I guess there are at least two separate issues here: (1) the songs are being randomly shuffled when they shouldn't and (2) it's not saving my sort settings. Am I the only person affected by this?

I have the same issue. This makes the player unusable for listening to podcasts that consist of multiple mp3s. I hope someone will fix this soon.
