Gapless audio on iOS

Is there some way to make playback of audiofiles gapless?
I tried flac and mp3, playing from an (Apple) SMB-server but I get interruptions between gapless tracks.

Thanks, but this was for iOS so it's not necessarily the same thing.
But the obvious conclusion is no gapless on any platform.
Too bad.

This is indeed correct. We really want to add support for gapless playback on all the platforms, but we are not sure yet whether this will be part of version 4 or not.

OK, great. Out of curiosity since gapless playback is often an issue even on other players. What's the big challange with gapless?

tl;dr.: The major challenge is that you need to decode two media with the full playback stack at the same time so you can start immediately when the previous playback is over while you can't say for sure how long it will take to open the next.
