No Audio when using Bluetooth Headphones

Postby ReCryptic » 28 Oct 2018 00:35

Hi,

I want to use my airpods on the IOS VLC app, but there is no sound when I watch the videos. Without the airpods on, the audio is fine.

I've got this issue on VLC iOS 3.1.4 running on iOS 12.1.1 on both an iPhone 8 Plus and and iPad Pro. How do you downgrade to an earlier version of VLC for iOS?

This is interesting to know that you can still reproduce. Please give details about the Bluetooth accessories you are using, so we can have a look. This issue was resolved for most of the affected Bluetooth device we know of. Note that previous versions expose the same problem and there is no simple way to downgrade apps on iOS.

As far as we know, the problem is resolved for AirPods and all the Bluetooth headphones I have. Please give details for which devices it still fails for you? (there are some I'm aware of, but I would like to compile a list.)

I just purchased the Samsung Galaxy Buds and don’t get audio with VLC on my iPhone 7. Everything is running at current versions with updated software!

Hi Felix

Same issue for my jabra elite 65t, on my iPhone X.

Many thanks for offer to repair the bug.

The strange thing is I can hear in the jabra. There is reaction when the Vedic start to play and when it close. And very low volumn white noise in the earbud. But even I max the volumn control there is no audio. As I turn off the Bluetooth or switch to a wired bud. The audio of the same clip plays normally.

The volumn actually controls the white noise volumn. So that means the Bluetooth actually didn’t register the audio track. It’s active and controls the volumn function of the app, but not register the audio track or something like that.

My other cheaper Bluetooth earphone from eBay is having same problem with this app. But I usually use the Jabra elite 65 only.

I have the same issue (i think).
I am using Powerbeats. It works fine straightaway but when i skip forward or change shows the sound stops and the video keeps playing. I am running Version 3.1.9 (325) and IOS 12.2 on Ipad.
If i turn the headphones off the video pauses. I restart the video and the sound works from the Ipad. Once i turn the headphones on again and sounds starts playing again. But again if i skip forward or change shows the issue is the same.
If i use wired headphones there is no issue.

Hi all,

Any update....

I’m using an iPad Pro with Jabra 65t and still have it.

Odd thing it’s only some videos. All were encoded in h.265 in an mp4 container. All encoded with the same software. Some work just fine and some not.

Thanks,

David

Pretty much makes the app useless. Same issue on iPhone X and iPad Mini 4. I have tried with Bose Quiet Comfort headphones as well as Air Pods. Video keeps playing in both cases though no sound comes through the headphones.

Hi, this will probably be fixed soon by the recently pushed patches on coreaudio.

Thank ye kindly, good sir. This is the workaround I've personally been using. It's janky, but it works on my iPad Mini:

- Switch to main speaker (it can be at 0 volume)
- Force-close VLC
- Open VLC again, start video
- While video is playing, switch audio device to bluetooth

Oddly, I get this issue on a lot of headsets, but not the super-native ones like the Beats X or Airpods.
