Sequencing of folder and file lists

Postby BVTIUBre » 20 Jul 2018 11:56

I have just installed the new VLC for IOS 3.1.0 for the new chromecast feature and I'm using IOS 11.4.1 on my iPad Pro. The most irritating aspect of the UI is that neither folders nor files are listed in a default alphabetical sequence; indeed they seem to be sequenced in reverse Z … A! I have noted that sorting is not yet a feature to be included, but could the default sequence be altered instead to a more user friendly A … Z? I would appreciate some advice on this please. :D

Hi,

I believe that sorting will be included soon, as there is currently a GSoC on the integration of a new media library on the application :

Hi,

Indeed, a new media library is on its way to be integrated with VLC-iOS.
That will include the sort feature but sadly I cannot say exactly when it will be done.

Any update to this?

I would love for this to be figured out as well as the potential option for sub-folders. I usually place lecture videos which I categorize by numbers and every time they end up being put in descending order. Unfortunately, the videos once started play down the list.

We are still working on the revamped interface, but I can't define a release date. It will be later this year and clearly not within the next month or two.

I also am waiting on this.
It is a shame that it is taking so long.
It is odd that it picks z-a as opposed to even newest to oldest...
I also find that it will Auto play the next NEW clip even though U don't have it tucked to do so in the settings

Dollars to donuts says it won't be any different on the 1 year anniversary of this topic being opened. It's really strange for there to be no workaround for this, nearly a year in, beyond "move files one at a time into a new folder".

Hello,

While you are still working on the new interface that solves everything, could you please add alphabetical sorting (just default and not changeable) to the existing interface?
This does not appear to break anything or hurt anybody, but quickly improves user experience with a simple programming step.

Hello,

The new interface will have the possibility to sort alphabetically.
