Top-overlay (swipe down to reveal) not working

I have an Apple TV 4th gen with tvOS 12 public beta. When I try to access subtitles via the top-overlay, nothing happens. Swiping down does nothing using the apple tv remote or my iphone as a remote. The remotes work normally on other apps like Netflix, Hulu, etc (ie swiping down allows subtitles). Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

Have you tried with the stable version of tvOS by any chance? I'm wondering if it's due to the beta version.

That being said, we still need to fix it even if it's a tvOS 12 issue, thanks for the report!

I have used VLC in the past without issue, so perhaps it is the beta that’s the problem.

I’m using tvOS 11.4 stable and I have to try and try before it randomly appears, sometimes it just never works.
