srt subtitle files on ios and mkv

it seems that i can't get the .srt file working on ios 11
filename like

this.is.it.mkv
this.is.it.srt

only subtitles that are embedded can be selected...
is there some magic needed?

I have the same problem. It doesn’t read any srt files... I use Greek subs for mkv movies and it doesn’t recognize them

Does your srt file and the mkv file have the same name?
