iOS crash when network streaming

Postby sjl » 09 Nov 2017 08:58

Steps to reproduce:
  • Open VLC
  • Connect to a network file server (in my case, using SMB.)
  • Start streaming a video file off that server.
  • Pause the video and turn off the iPad (not a complete power down, just close the smart cover or tap the power switch. Basically, set it so you need to unlock the iPad to use it again.)
  • Go away for a few minutes (say, ten minutes; haven't figured out how long a break is necessary.)
  • Come back. Unlock the iPad.
  • Try to resume the video file.
VLC crashes. However, if I hit "done", and go back to the point just prior to logging into the file server, everything's fine, suggesting that VLC is losing the connection (and credentials?) to the file server whilst it's asleep.

iOS 11.0.3, iPad Air 2 (wifi only), VLC for iOS 2.8.4.
