Audio stuttering when video file playback is stopped

I don't know if this just started with the latest update as I haven't used VLC on mu iPad for a while but I just updated to iOS 11.0.1 and the latest version of VLC.

Video playback seems to be fine but as soon as a playback is stopped, the audio continues in a sort of stuttering way, like if the last word being spoken was, say, 'fraction', it would sound like 'frac-frac-frac-frac-frac-frac...' etc and it does not stop even when VLC is quit. The only way to stop it is to open another app with audio output and play something else.

It is an iPad Air 128GB with about 40GB free.
