Simple UI/UX improvements for VLC for IOS.

Postby Grover_vlc » 05 May 2017 13:53

Hello VLC team,

Digging deeper into VLC's options I am discovering that it is more sophisticated then my first impressions were  . I was too quick in my assumptions. I stand corrected.

I am left with some small UI/UX suggestions:

Cloud services

In Dutch 'Aangemeld' looks similar to the word 'Aanmelden', so at a glance the status of the cloud services listed looks the same. They all seem to have the same status, and you have to look closely at the words 'Aangemeld' to see that Dropbox is indeed connected. Not a big issue at all whatsoever in day-to-day use, but maybe you could provide a different colour or other more clear indication that a service is connected or not.

Download status bar

Unfortunately VLC iOS is not capable of streaming a movie via Dropbox and display subtitles provided in a .srt file. (Is this an iOS limitation or something VLC could fix?)
So, I am forced to actually download the movie from Dropbox to local VLC on my iPad. When downloading, I think that status indicator could be improved:

The time-indicator flashes instead of steadying displaying the time. What is the purpose of this flashing? It makes it a bit harder to see monitoring the time when the download is finished. Again, just a tiny small thing.

Thanks.
