How to get VLC media library to recognize and use files ALREADY transferred to iphone via itunes sync

Postby aldini10 » 16 Feb 2017 20:10

Hello
I do not see this topic in the documentation although I am sure it is an issue.
My old iphone 4s had an apple built in video player but this app did not transfer when i moved to an iphone 6.
I was told at the Chicago Apple store that they no longer have a default video player fir ios v 10 on an iphone 6 (wtf?)
I am willing to give a few bucks for VLC which I downloaded - however when i installed the app i get the "empty media library on the device even though of course there are 69 (mostly MP4 some Quicktime 3 gp) files that were PREVIOUSLY synced with itunes.
Why the heck doesn't VLC san the device directory for existing files and ask to import them to its library so you can view all videos in this library???\
If I am asked to recopy a file in itunes via the vlc "file transfer: THAT ALREADY HAS BEEN COPIED TO THE DEVICE (IN THIS CASE IPHONE 6) will vlc try to rename the file and needlessly waste space?
My expectation is that if I record a video on my iphone6 that file will immediately become recognized by vlc!
Please help
Thanks
