Local Network issues

Hi

I can see the SMB local networks
I have file sharing switched on
I have tried logging in with both my regular login id and a file share only account I set up in Mavericks.
I have "share via wifi" on in VLC for iOS tho I don't think it makes a difference

I can already stream via upnp from the router but it would be nice to occasionally play a file directly from the Mac.

When I try to connect I get no error but I also get no file structure.

Any ideas ????

Hi,
I had the same issue. I think you didn't turn on SMB sharing on your computer. Go to System preferences -> File Sharing -> Click Options... and check the Sharing with SMB checkbox.

But I use smb to connect the Mac mini to the laptop and vice versa
So smb has been switched on for some time & regrettably

my problem still exists

but I really do appreciate the only answer I've had, I was beginning to worry
