itunes backup and restore to new iPhone

Hello there,

When moving data to new iPhone using itunes (backing up old phone and restoring to new one), will the app transfer the movies already loaded in the app media library?.
My understanding is that it will not, because if people are using iCloud backup, it would take a lot of space.
I had 40 GB of movies that I lost in the transfer. I can load them again if I remember all of them and what drive they are on, but I digressed.
If that is the case, shouldn't be a warning or reminder to copy said files prior to backing up iPhone, or be ready to lose them. I spend several hours trying to find those movies in my itunes backup but I finally got the answer (I think) in the VideoLAN forums.
