I'm trying to stream video through the Plex media server but I can't get over how slow the data is being read.
~300kb (that is ~300,000 bytes) per second are being sent by the Plex Media Server over the network to the WiFi box and on to an iPad. For video encoded at 10Mbps.
I'm sure it didn't use to be this slow...

Does not exactly sound like a VLC problem. Is your Plex Media Server correctly configured and connected with a fast line?
