Playing audio streams in the background with TVOS?

So far VLC is working awesome for me on Apple TV. It handles subtitles way better than anything I've tried, and also it's the first player I've used for playing Digitially Imported streams that doesn't suck.

I am a little confused about something - there is a setting for "background audio" which made me thing I could put VLC in the background while playing music, but when I put VLC in the background the music stops. Am I misunderstanding something? My dream app is one that can play an audio stream while I have a cool Apple TV screensaver running...

Hmm, it's possible that the screensaver is actually blocking the audio. I need to test that on my Apple TV.
Except for that, if you background the app, audio works for me.

For me the audio dies the moment I go back from playing the stream. Same thing happens when using Plex or anything else to play music on my local LAN. I have the Apple TV 4 with the max storage - is there any debugging or data I can gather to indicate why this doesn't work?

Oh, instead of going back, can you press the home button on the remote during playback? Does it help?

That was it. Also holding menu worked. Perfect!

My only wish list would be the ability to give a label to a URL.
