VLC on iPhone 6/6 plus

My iPhone 6 plus is currently being shipped to me and I should get it in a few days. Just wonder right now, will video playback withVLC be upscaled just like probably the interface or is it somehow capable to detect the bigger screen and use the higher resolution? Would be cool if I could watch 1080p MKV videos on the 6 plus and VLC could use the 1080p screen for that

Anyone had a chance yet to test VLC on the new iPhones?
